MeraSona ("we", "our", "us") is a personal gold record-keeping and tracking application built for Indian families. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable law including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1 Information We Collect
a) Account Information
When you sign up, we collect:
- Phone number (for OTP verification)
- Name and email address
- Google account info (if you use Google Sign-In)
- Profile photo (optional)
b) Gold Portfolio Data
Data you voluntarily enter about your gold holdings:
- Item names, categories, and descriptions
- Weight, purity, and purchase details
- Purchase price, date, making charges, and jeweler name
- Photos of your gold items
- Goals and checklist items
- Notes and custom labels
We do not independently verify any data you enter. The accuracy of your portfolio records is entirely your responsibility.

- Device type and operating system version
- App usage patterns and crash reports

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party services.
4 Data Storage & Security
- All data is stored on Google Firebase servers with encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Data is stored per-user and is not accessible to other users
- Photos are stored securely in Firebase Storage with access restricted to the owning user
- We use Firebase's built-in security rules to prevent unauthorized access
- Offline data is cached locally on your device for seamless usage
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
5 Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable Indian law, you have the right to:
- Access — View all data we hold about you (visible in-app)
- Correction — Edit your profile and holdings data anytime
- Deletion — Delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen
- Withdraw Consent — Disable notifications or revoke permissions at any time
- Data Portability — Export your data (feature coming soon)
- Grievance Redressal — Contact us with any privacy concerns
Delete Your Account: Go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data including holdings, goals, photos, and preferences from our servers. This action cannot be undone.
6 Advertisements
We display ads through Google AdMob to support the free version of MeraSona. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device's Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.
Any third-party products or services advertised within the app are not endorsed, recommended, or affiliated with MeraSona.
7 Children's Privacy
MeraSona is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8 Data Retention
- Account data is retained as long as your account is active
- Upon account deletion, all data is permanently removed within 30 days
- Anonymized usage data may be retained for app improvement purposes
9 Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top and notify users through the app. Continued use of MeraSona after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
